Tenderness

Raise your voice

Not in volume

But in hope's soft prayer.

A strength in feeling

Brave mind bristling at silencing

All a weathered heart has learned

All a tender word has earned

A courageous sort of kindness

Tenderness, she invites

Others

Both the weary and wary, to draw near

To collapse

To rebuild

To slough off callous shields

Eyes sparkling with gentle understanding.

Raise your voice

A humbled sound

Hoarse from whispering,

"You are not alone."
